About Ken

Ken Johnson is a Cape Cod, Massachusetts-based wildlife and landscape photographer. His love of the natural world and its wonders are brought to life in the images he creates.

Ken was born in Saint Anthony, Newfoundland and grew up in Beverly, Massachusetts. The ocean has been an intrinsically important part of his life for many years.

Ken worked in the fields of finance and investment management for more than 30 years. His career took him from Boston to Chicago and Connecticut. In the late-1990s Ken relocated to Denver, where he was part of an independent start-up money management business that reached more than $100 billion in assets under management in less than a decade. In Colorado, Ken cherished the high desert landscape and the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains.

Ken discovered his passion for photography upon retirement from the business world. In his words, “With a camera in hand, every day is a new opportunity.” Photography has taken him from Cape Cod to the desert Southwest, Alaska, the Galápagos Islands, and Torres del Paine in Patagonia. His favorite regular “go to” local places include the beaches, waterways and marshes of Cape Cod and various parks and wildlife refuges in and around Denver. He has been fortunate to have traveled with, and learned from, some outstanding landscape and wildlife photographers, including Jack Dykinga, Justin Black, Grant Ordelheide, Jerry Dodrill and Art Wolfe.

Ken’s artistic talent, patience and persistence can be seen in his images of the natural world he so loves and wishes to protect.
